The bestselling, teacher-recommended book is back! A Suzuki Violin School classic!

Teaching insights into the world of beginning Suzuki violin. Helpful to parents and teachers of more advanced players as well.(218 pp, paperback)

FROM THE AUTHOR:

It is with a great deal of excitement that I join with my longtime friends and colleagues at Shar to Share the news that they are reissuing my "Twinkle" book, They’re Rarely Too Young and Never Too Old to ‘Twinkle’.

As a teacher, trainer, and parent, my goal was and continues to be, through words and photos of real life students and parents, to capture not only the important foundational steps which will lead to the ability to produce beautiful sounds at each level of development as a violinist — steps which I had watched Suzuki Sensei and his teachers carefully develop in most unique ways — but to also encourage both the joy and discipline of learning in the Suzuki spirit.

While teaching points from the 10 volumes of repertoire are revealed in the music itself, critical pre-Twinkle 'skills' are the teaching points which lead to long-term enjoyment and capacity on the instrument, requiring understanding on the part of both teacher and parent to ensure they become part of the pattern of repetition from the beginning, practicing them faithfully "on the days we eat".

Parents, teacher trainers, teacher trainees, and those aspiring to learn more about the Suzuki approach and the philosophy that undergirds it will find additional essays, which are more important to our emotional and spiritual survival than ever before.

Application of the pre-Twinkle/Twinkler fundamentals with continually evolving ‘games’ and exercises may vary with parent, teacher, and student personalities, but the premise of devoting time and attention to fundamentals is essential to succeeding in any discipline — a priceless gift to give oneself, one’s child or student.
